The thesis statement of this essay is "My clothes have always failed me.". I think it serves a more efficient purpose as a thesis than the next sentence in the paragraph, "I remember the green coat that I wore in fifth and sixth grade..." because the sentence before it tells me and other readers that this essay is going to be about a hated article of clothing that the author had owned.
This story describes a certain piece of clothing that the author hated having to endure childhood wearing (which was an ugly, green jacket). This essay is very comical because of the similes used to describe the jacket, his reaction to having received it, and the reactions of others seeing the author wearing the jacket. This scenario sparks nostalgia in my mind, because I too remember a relative giving me a piece of clothing; that is a piece of clothing that I not only was obliged to wear, but was also stuck with for a few years. The connection that this story forms with the reader makes it all the more interesting and amusing to read.

Part 2
This certain room at the Virginia Beach ECPI campus I think is the best perk for being a student. On the first floor directly inside the school library, is a small student-faculty lounge called "Tech-Scape" (aptly named as a pun for "escape"). Again, this room is relatively small, but its' size encourages people to use their "indoor voices". The wallpaper in the room is a color similar to a very creamy coffee drink that is reminiscent of a cafe'. Also on the cappuccino-colored walls are framed digital art pieces created by the students attending the campus. There are plenty of seats; these being very cushy sofas, and chairs with small, swiveling desks for those who need to use them. However, during club meetings (which usually take place in Tech-Scape), it seems that there can never be enough chairs to seat club members!
My favorite feature of my favorite room on campus is the free snacks! During random periods throughout the month, the tray placed on top of a small table in the center of the room will be laden with sweet, sugary goodies! All of the snacks that the students and faculty love to munch on are up for grabs! Oatmeal cream-pies, Zingers, "fun-sized" chocolate candy bars, and yummy, fruit-flavored hard candies make up only the tip of this high-calorie iceberg! Thankfully, these snacks are provided by the library attendant, and other faculty members of the school.
Other than snacks, of course there is the nifty and compact coffee dispenser. For fifty cents, one can get their "fix" of caffeine before, after, or between classes. I love coffee, but personally I would not consume the machine-bred drinks if they were more than fifty cents a cup. If you can get through the cluster of people surrounding the drink bar, you can reach inside the bar and grab a packet of hot cocoa! The school spares no expense in bringing the finest warm drinks to ECPI (translation: Swiss-Miss chocolate!). Of course, for the non-coffee, non-cocoa drinkers, there is also tea (and scalding-hot water for those who bring their own tea bags).
